Breaking the rules

Sometimes I get the urge to break the rules just for the heck of it. After much thought I decided to name this one, "The Tree". I won't bore you by naming the rules I broke. I'll just admit that I had real fun painting it. The big surprise (for me) is that it reads pretty well.

I tend to paint in spurts. I'll produce several paintings and then I may go a few weeks without putting anything out. I've learned from bitter experience that I can't force it. If I try to paint when I don't have the urge, bad things happen. I know artists who are so disciplined that they paint a certain number of hours 5 or 6 days a week. I guess that would be driven by the need to eat. I'm so well fed that I have no discipline.
