Last spring we went to New Orleans where I took a bunch of pictures of street musicians. I use a little Olympus Stylus 400 digital camera. It is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and has pretty good resolution. I think it’s about 4 mega pixels. It has a zoom lens that allows me to get up close and personal with the subject. This painting came out of that trip. It is oil on canvas, 24 x 30. I played around with all sorts of ideas in the background and finally decided that it was best just to treat it as a trombone player suspended in space.

... and you were right to leave the background as it is. I love this one ... musicians are another favourite subjet of mine. I think that this painting is full of sound and energy!
